Can Life’s Challenges Bestow Blessings?

Can Life’s Challenges Bestow Blessings?

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to you, my friends, clients, readers and fellow professionals, with this quote:

“We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives”

~ John F. Kennedy

And that’s what I’m attempting to do here, though I’m finding it difficult for words alone to express the enormous gratitude in my heart for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon myself and my family this past year.  In the wake of the unexpected loss of my husband and the simultaneous battle to help my mother survive a triple cancer diagnosis, your cards, letters, calls, emails, messages, gifts and more have been like beacons of light in the darkness, and we are so very thankful for every kind word and deed.

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

~ Melody Beattie

And so, this year when the world seems to have lost its sense of balance and control, I invite you to center yourself and look deep within for the gifts that can come from life challenges that may come at you.  The gifts are there, and finding them will help you make greater peace with what is.

If you awoke today with eyes that can see, limbs that can move, a mind that can remember, and lungs that can breathe – you have been blessed with gifts that others can only wish for.  And, even in the wake of traumatic life changes like death and divorce, there lie seeds of blessings – such as finding resilience and strength you may never have known before to carry you through another day.

“Now is no time to think of what you do not have.  Think of what you can do with what there is.”

~ Ernest Hemingway

May you always be blessed and be a blessing to others.
